Day 2: Bagatelle Game Ranch Distance +- 270km

The Kalahari – an ancient living desert A harsh land, a land of relentless sun and searing wind – a land of great thirst and mystery. After the first rains, a land transformed into exquisite beauty with the dunes erupting in a blaze of colour! The Kalahari conjures up different images in the minds of different people. Some see it as a scorching desert. others see it as their future, built on cattle and sheep, ostriches and wildlife. The Kalahari is all of this, but also something more.

The word ‘Kalahari’ means wilderness! Its relative inaccessibility, the harsh unyielding red sand dunes, the uncertain rainfall and lack of surface water, make it truly one of Africa’s last frontiers.

Bagatelle - this French word refers to something small, of little consequence, not very important! The ranch is characterized by huge red sands dunes running parallel, and in a northern-westerly to south-easterly direction. The valleys in between the parallel dunes are commonly known as ‘streets’. This ‘Spirit of Africa’ atmosphere, coupled with service, delivered with graciousness and charm, in an unashamedly luxurious setting, will be the hallmarks of this establishment, providing excellent value and unforgettable memories. There is a swimming pool and recreation area. An open air lapa for outdoor meals captures the atmosphere of an African Safari.

• 1 x Overnight at Bagatelle Game Ranch on lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast

In Afrikaans “ses is six and “riem” is the name for the leather thongs; hence Sesriem

Day 7 Safari court Distance +- 410km

After breakfast you will return to Windhoek. There are three well known and most frequently used passes the Gamsberg, Spreetshoogte and Remhoogte pass.
Probably the most spectacular and interesting road goes along C26 route via Gamsberg which has been nicknamed ''The Namibia's Table Mountain''.
This is the longest and the highest pass in Namibia. The name derived for Nama word ''gan'' meaning ''flat on top''. The mountain with the same name has the height of 2350 m above sea level. The Gamsberg consists of approximately 990 million years old granite.
The Spreetshoogte is the steepest pass on the way to the Namib with sharp bends but the view from the top over the Namib is most rewarding. Namibia has basically three very distinct topographical areas. Inland a 2.000 meters high central plateau runs north to south. To the west of this plateau, the land drops off a dramatic escarpment to the Namib Desert. It is absolutely spectacular at Spreetshoogte Pass.
On your return route to Windhoek a stop at Solitair is worthwhile. Solitair is a small settlement and has a fuel station which is manned daylight hours and the provisions shop opens until quite late. It's here that you might catch a glimpse of Big-Moose who bakes the 'Moose Bread' and the renowned apple crumble.

For all who enjoy the more refined milieu, this spectacular four-star hotel caters for the aesthetically appreciating guest. 215 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites accommodate guests in a peaceful surrounding. • Facilities: Swimming pool, laundry faculities, safe and coffe/tea in room, room service.
